Course Overview:

This course developed by the AAP and ACEP will provide core knowledge in pediatric emergency medicine.

On completion of this course, the participants will have an intensive learning experience about the initial assessment and management of critically ill children during the first hours in the emergency department.

 
 


Who Should Take APLS?

• Pediatricians

• Emergency physicians

• Family physicians

• Any other physician and nurse who are involved in the care of pediatric patients.

• Any physician who is interested in becoming an APLS Course Director or Faculty member.

 
     
 

Course Format:
The course format include case-based lectures, small group discussions and skill stations.

 Children with Special Health Care Needs
 Metabolic Disease I

Skill Stations:
 Airway Procedures
 Cardiovascular Procedures
 Advanced Airway Procedures

At the conclusion of the course, participants will take the APLS written exams and receive a certificate of completion.

 
     
  NOTE!
The APLS is Pediatric Emergency Medicine course, NOT a Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course. The APLS Course focuses on the assessment, diagnosis, and initial treatment of the pediatric emergencies, as well cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
